More about us
We serve in several areas of underserved communities. Below are facts on the six (6) main areas.
WATER
Lack of clean drinking water is a catastrophic phenomena in some underdeveloped countries causing diseases as well as the death of vulnerable people.
According to the CDC:
An estimated 446,000 children younger than 5 years old die yearly from diarrhea, mostly in developing countries.
Yearly, there are between 1.3 and 4 million cases of cholera in the world and an estimated 84,000 cholera related deaths.
There are 11 to 21 million cases of typhoid fever and an estimated 129,000 typhoid fever related deaths yearly.
POVERTY
According to studies and several animal fondations:
Animal welfare issues in Africa are complex and linked to cultural, social, religious, political and economic factors.
Poverty and lack of knowledge contribute to some of animal welfare challenges.
Current protocols on good animal welfare are not suitable for African conditions.
CHILD MALTREATMENT
According to the UNICEF:
There are 52 million orphans in Africa, some of them are victims of violence, rape, malnutrition, lack of education and many more.
Seeking the data on children poverty, we can conclude that orphans need additional help.
LGBT
Yes, homosexuality is a criminal offense in certain countries of Africa. According to the ILGA:
Same-sex relationships in most countries of Africa is punishable by death or a long term prison sentence.
Thousands of gay men in Africa die every year due to Africa's homophobic laws; the most popular cases are the case of Eric Ohena Lembembe and the one of Roger Jean-Claude Mbebe.
CLIMATE CHANGE
Climate change is a global issue, and one way to fight it is to recycle.
According to the United Nations(UN) Environment, Africa is currently recycling only 4% of it waste.
125 million tonnes of municipal solid water (MSW) was generated in Africa in 2012, which is expected to double by 2025.
The growth in waste generation in Africa is expected to be so significant that any decrease in waste generation in other regions globally will be overshadowed by Africa.
Recycling does not only help to resolve the problem of climate change but also help to improve health in unsanitary places.
ANIMAL WELFARE
According to studies and several animal fondations:
Animal welfare issues in Africa are complex and linked to cultural, social, religious, political and economic factors.
Poverty and lack of knowledge contribute to some of animal welfare challenges.
Current protocols on good animal welfare are not suitable for African conditions.
